Boredom Kicks In

3 weeks into the holidays and I'm finally feeling bored. I guess it's about time too, with only 2 weeks left, gotta "prep myself for uni life", whatever that's supposed to mean.

Today's the last day of June. It's been a relaxing month. One that had sufficient indulgence.

Oh yeah I can collect my exam transcript and graduation cert at college tomoro. After that I can register at Monash to make the offer official. =)
There's really nothing else to do. I'm pretty much ready. After all things aren't going to be that different from pre-U. Heck, Monash is just down the block from Sunway. =P

So what am I gonna do now?
Sick of video games and TV. Went to the movies already. Shopped already. Can't play tennis that often becoz my leg is starting to hurt. No mood to work on Yhart.

I feel like going somewhere... like a trip or something. Somewhere fun or with nice sights.

Right now I'm watching 'Kylie Greatest Hits 1987-1997'. Old music videos on DVD. It's amazing how much she has changed since.

what's up Doc?

Have not been feeling normal for days. Finally went to the medical centre for a checkup today. Don't worry it's not A(H1N1). No fever or flu.

Never really been in good health, dealing with digestive system related problems since primary school. I'm becoming the expert of stomach pains. I remember those days. Waking up in the middle of the night feeling sick. Not being able to eat or sleep in peace.

Even though the problem is less severe these days, it still bugs me every now and then, like this week. It's been so many years but I really have no clue what IT is or what's the cause.

So today the doc suggested it could be an infection known as H. pylori. God knows what that is, apparently it's not that uncommon. Hence I did a test to see if the bacteria is present. Results will be out next week. Interesting...

Somehow I have a gut feeling it's not this. But I hope it is, so that I can finally seek treatment. After all, you can only treat something if you know what it is.

Also took a vaccination for chicken pox today. Glad I did.

Stomach not feeling great right now. It gets in the way of life.
Rats. =(

BTW I like this song...

The Outcome

What do you know, results came out early. Briefly after publishing my previous post.

My immediate response was to calculate my Mufy score. Heart beating quicker than usual. I keyed in the numbers several times to make sure there was no mistake.

The outcome?
It wasn't a number that I like, but it was more or less expected.

My prediction was spot on. Maybe I should consider a career in fortune telling. Better start shopping for a crystal ball.
Mind the sarcasm. Just trying to lick my wounds.

I admit it's slightly upsetting becoz I missed the scholarship mark not by much. I can't help but wonder over & over again what could have been if I worked a little harder, pushed myself a little more.

IF ONLY.........

I know I should be satisfied. I have all HDs. Some of my course mates would celebrate with a score like this. This is just the perfection seeking obsessive compulsive competitive side of me wishing for more. No matter what the score is, I will always wish it was higher. It's human nature.

OH WELL dramas over. Speaking to a friend made me realize it's not that bad. It's far from that. In fact I should be so lucky, lucky lucky lucky. Pun intended. =)

That Day Is Tomorrow

Strange title. Never mind.
Exam results can be viewed online tomoro.

I don't know what to say.

I remember last semester I was so anxious and excited for results day, but this time the hype isn't there. To explain this behaviour, I propose 2 theories:

1. I couldn't care what my results are since I already predict it's not good enough to be scholarship material.
2. I'm quite confident that I answered all papers well, hence no worries.

I think it's a little bit of both.
Pray for me will you..

I cooked, I watched

Last Saturday I made dinner for 3 as my parents were away for the nite.
MENU
Penne pasta with white mushrooms and sausages
Miso soup
The maid helped with the more complicated procedures, but I was in the kitchen the whole time. It turned out tasty, I mean how bad can pasta and sauce from a bottle go...
As for the miso soup, well it's instant. But it tastes just like the ones we have in a Jap restaurant.
Overall I'm satisfied with my first self prepared main meal (or should I say partially lol).

Yesterday I watched 2 free movies at GSC Tropicana City Mall. This place is just a 3 minute drive from home. The new cinema is smaller than the one at 1U, but it's clean, fresh and most importantly it's conveniently near my house.

Oh yeah so you might have heard about the free screenings that they are conducting for 4 days. Only 8 movies to choose from. Hence I watched 'Ip Man' and 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' with my sis. I wouldn't have watched these shows had it not been F.O.C., but both shows turned out quite alright.
Time really flies when we are having a good time. 2 weeks gone, 3 weeks left. I'm quite nervous about starting life as a uni student. It's bound to be exciting, but hectic too.

In Pics: Good Things

Been a while since I did a pic post. Random things (mostly food lol) from recent weeks =)
Sorry bout poor quality. Lazy to edit =P

Sis in cage with Quill. Classic.

new hair cut =)

Last but not least, the Wong family version of french toast. Been having this since young. But today i made it completely on my own. Yes, that's right. Looks sick but tastes good.

The shiny yellow stuff on the bread is honey, not oil. The edges of the bread look like bite marks becoz i was lazy to use a knife. Don't ask. Haha gosh I'm so defensive about my culinary skills.

This holiday I'm attempting to make myself more adept in the kitchen by improving my virtually not existent cooking skills. (that's a mouth full)

A few days ago I made mushroom soup............. Yes, you've probably guessed. It's instant can soup.

But I will try making cooler stuff. Maybe pasta or some omelet. Ohh maybe American breakfast hehehe. Anyone got tips for a cooking amateur?

So far...

It has been over a week of holiday-ing and I must say it has been rather intoxicating.

In some ways I didn't expect my break to be so... occupied. Not that I'm busy, but I just never had a bored or dull moment yet, which is good. Means I'm spending time (and money lol) efficiently.

Seems the current motto is "To the max", everything done to extreme.

Played 7 hours of tennis in 4 days, which is the most I've ever done. Mentally I became a wreck towards the end. For once I want a break from tennis. But not for long.

Had a haircut, and it's different from before. Kinda sharp, spiky looking.

Also watched a handful of movies this week. 'State of Play' was the latest. Pretty good. It's a show that makes you think. It's been a while since I watched a horror movie... Anyone wanna watch 'Drag Me To Hell' with me?

Another feature of the week was delicious food. Emmm.... plenty of it. Don't even know where to start. I recommend going to 'Otak-otak Place' which is located at 1 Utama and Tropicana City Mall. Everything I've tried there so far has been up to standard, like the Nasi Briyani and Nasi Lemak Chicken Rendang. Of course the otak-otak related dishes are good as well.

Also had breakfast at La Bodega in Bangsar yesterday. Seriously I think they serve the best American breakfast. Order the 'Big breakfast' and you will know what I mean. It's very expensive for breakfast, but I only go there once in a blue moon, which actually makes the experience even more memorable.

Talking about satisfying meals makes me shiver in joy. And I'm hungry now. Time for lunch =)
Will upload pics in next post =)

Hilarious

Haha i actually had to spell check the word 'hilarious'.

Anyway saw this video and I thought it was well.... hilarious. Making fun of Star Wars. The scene where Darth Vader reveals he is Luke's father is the best. And Jar Jar is also wacky.

I've not seen such a funny video since the sneezing baby panda with its mum. =)

It will be Dreams

Ladies & gentlemen, I'm happy to share that I have begin work on a 2nd collection.

The first show "Black vs. White" was about structure, repeated prints and symmetry to say the least. It was slightly rushed becoz I was eager to publish it.

For the 2nd show, I will take my time. This time I want it to have a little more emotional appeal, and yes definitely colours beyond the monochrome.

I've been looking for inspiration to set a theme, and I tot it would be interesting to see how I interpret music and translate into art. So I've decided to use "Dreams", specifically the performance of the video I have attached. I also plan to use another performance as a secondary source, but will reveal later.

I think the best explanation for you to understand this song is through the lyrics. Hence:

Dreams

To have any man but to love only one

To wake with the moon and sleep with the sun

To be a sinner, a saint, a lover & friend

To know a beginning but never an end

To fly in the ocean, to swim in the skies

Believer in truth, defendant of lies

To be of purest love, the deepest pain

To be lost and found again and again and again

These are the dreams of an impossible princess (X2)

To know the power of wealth and poverty

To taste every moment and try everything

To be hailed as a hero, branded a fool

Believe in the sacred and break every rule

To give into pleasure with no boundaries

Living in chaos and harmony

To feel the touch of a man, a woman's caressed

To know the limits of torture and tenderness

These are the dreams of an impossible princess (X2)

Man and woman, boy and girl, They want to escape this world (X2)

Nothing's what it seems, living in your dreams

It's a way of dealin' with all the feelin'

Keep believing in dreams

It's a way of dealin' with all the feelin'

Keep believing in dreams

Unveiled

Just watched Slumdog Millionaire. I know it took me long enough. Watching it has been on my to do list ages ago. It was nice. The story unfolded interestingly & the ending was great. Made me smile. No wonder the awards.

Anyway phase one of the project I was talking about is completed! In fact this is just one project. I have other things in mind.

Behold, my first ever Yhart exhibit! It took me 4 days to make all the pieces in this collection, as well as putting it together in this video. Enjoy! =)

So what do you think?

Bring on the Green stuff

Been out and about most of the day. Hence the late update.

French Open comes to an end after 2 weeks of well...... surprises.
My predictions have been completely wrong. I expected Nadal and Safina to win, Federer to not go that far, Djokovic to be in the final.

With Nadal, Djokovic and Murray out of his sight, Federer took his chances and completed a career Slam. Now he has the complete collection.

With Wimbledon just 3 weeks away, I'd say Federer has a good shot based on current form. Still early to say though. Anyway this is truly an exciting time for tennis fans as 2 Slams come back to back. Grass is my favourite surface to watch, partly becoz the grass season is so short, it makes us appreciate it more.

I'm really enjoying my holidays. The freedom to relax and just do whatever that I enjoy is such a pleasure. Right now I'm indulging to the max!

=) =) =)

It's certainly challenging my creativity as well as energy, but if I put in enough effort the outcome should be... refreshing.

It seems I have found ways to spend my holiday =)

Love to all.
Will keep u updated.

On The Other Side

Yes, I've made it in one piece.
Initially I didn't want to type this post so soon, but I just couldn't resist.

The feeling of joy and relief is just racing through my body.

This past one year has been quite a journey. Wait, that's a lie. Actually I didn't achieve much. Time flies and the pre-U chapter of my life is gone in a flash. I almost can't believe it. I have to admit the Mufy experience isn't tough compared to some of the courses u guys r taking.

Of course I'm still thankful and grateful for the way things turned out. I wanna thank the ppl I've met this past 12 months, lecturers & friends for helping me, for laughing with me, for trusting me. I mean it. I know I'm not exactly the most cheerful or talkative person, so if I didn't talk to u much it doesn't mean I don't like you.
Yeah. I bet I'll still see most of them at Monash. So hope we keep in touch.
Anyway, I'm making a list of things to do during my 1 month break. Got a few ideas d. =)

Here's a checklist of things I did so far:
1. have nice lunch
2. go mamak
3. Kylie concert DVDs marathon
4. watch tennis (Gonzalez-Soderling match was awesome)
5. write blog post about my new freedom
6. play PC game

I assure you, the list of happy things will GROW. =P

these pics express happiness + good times

till next time =)

Satisfying Promotion

Wow today I found a pot of gold thanks to Jit Teng & Yu Xuan. Yesterday while playing tennis they mentioned this 50% offer at Shogun Japanese buffet restaurant. Normal price is about Rm43+, now it's only about RM25 per person.

Hehe so today 5 of us went to the branch at 1 Utama. I was surprised coz when we reached there at 11am, there was a line building up at the entrance. The buffet only starts at 12, but ppl go early to line up to secure seats. In the end, the restaurant gave out numbers (like a bank) and we got in soon enough.
The selection of food is fantastic. The taste was decent as well. I think it's a good deal. As you know Jap food is always pricey, so RM25 for all you can eat is pretty darn good. We ate for almost 3 hours.
Unfortunately tomorrow is the last day of the promotion. This promotion started some time ago, so I kinda regret not finding out about it sooner. But I guess having too much of something isn't good either.

So if ur free, go tonight or tomorow!
I know it's very uncharacteristic of me to go out on a day before my Bio paper, and I even played tennis yesterday. Maybe 2 or 3 years ago I would have chose to stay at home to study. But what the heck, times have changed and I feel we still gotta eat and play during an exam period rite? I'm mature enough to manage my schedule and finish what I have to read in time (hopefully lol)
Pray for me. After tomorrow I am FREE.
FREE!!! HAHAHAHAHA.

More Yhart (I'm not crazy)

Hmm I realized recently that our brain has a natural tendency to associate a certain combination of colours to a certain theme.
Take a look at some examples and see if you can tell what it represents.
zebra?

This is too obvious.

Army print?

For those who went NS, does this look familiar?

Rainbow. Duh.

It's interesting how our mind works. Like for the Army print, even though there is no picture of a soldier, guns or tankers, u know what it is.

* * * * *

BTW I've got 1 paper left! Chemistry paper was alrite I guess. Some questions were new to me, so I just wrote what I thought was the answer. All I can do now is pray. Bio paper on Friday. I just want to get it over with.
