sweet music

hey... college life will begin soon & i'm gettin mixed feelings
it's the 'Holiday effect' that i need to rub off...
no matter what, it's bound to happen sooner or later so my system just has to deal with it...

with only a few days left to soak up all the remainder of the H-effect, i thought it would be nice to talk about the songs that r on my playlist now... so that u'll know me better...

music has been great so far this year... lots of groovy songs & smash hits...

My current ringtone is the chorus of 'Better in Time', and my CRT is Colbie Caillat's 'Realize'...
i just really like these 2, songs that i can keep listening to and not get sick of it...

i also like Rihanna... she's just making hit after hit... i like all the singles from her new album...
from Umbrella to Shut Up & Drive to Don't Stop The Music....
the most recent one being 'Take A Bow'... sort of a sarcastic ballad...

I also have a few David Cook songs, the new A.I...... especially like 'Music of the Night'... great voice...

oh and a recent addition is Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl'.... this song is catchy and if not mistaken, even Madonna said she's hot...

other notable mentions:
>if i never see your face again - maroon 5 & rihanna
>pocketful of sunshine - Natasha Bedingfield
> A&E - Goldfrapp
>if only - KT Tunstall
>American boy - Estelle & kanye west

it's also a bonus that in 'American Boy', Kylie's name is mentioned! haha... =)btw Kylie is doin great with her X2008 tour so far... got good reviews...

Unlucky No.3

Tennis is just full of surprises...

Wednesday:
Men's 3rd seed Novak Djokovic was sent packing after a second round defeat to Marat Safin at Wimbledon.

Shocking?? the very next day, Thursday:
Women's 3rd seed Maria Sharapova also gets knocked out in Round 2, her worst performance ever in Wimbledon, losing to someone ranked outside the top 100....

sure it's a surprise, but this half a year or so i've learned that this is how tennis works...

if i didn't play tennis myself, i would probably say "W.T.H., how can they lose like that?"
But now i think that it's no big deal, coz any player can lose just as easily as they can win...
a tennis match can go either way in a matter of points.

not that i'm trying to sound wise, but this is the reality of tennis... it sucks, but it's true...

playing tennis has brought me so much heartache, sometimes i just feel like quitting...
but then i remind myself why i play tennis in the first place...
it's because i love this sport so much...
i savour every moment i get to step on a tennis court (which isn't much)
it's because it's physically & mentally challenging...
i want to conquer these challenges and be a stronger, tougher person

Tennis is a punishing sport... it has ruined my body physically and destroyed me mentally several times...
and yet i still go back for more....

sometimes i really wonder why i push myself so hard... i mean, it's not like i'm a professional player competing in tournaments...
but there's something... just something... that is so rewarding when u win a tennis match.... coz it requires a hell lot of effort, dedication & concentration.... watching the pros on TV, i tell myself i want to be like that...

i have lost almost twice as many times as i have won... some days i play well: solid ground strokes, consistent serve.... but two days later, my game just falls apart... it's like a see saw performance...

i have had to learn to accept defeat... u know, take the positives of each match, see what the negatives are, throw them away and work on it... i have no other choice... if i don't bounce back, it's the end.... the only way i can get back on winning ways is to work, work, work...

if i win, yay, good for me... the next goal is to try and continue winning...
if i lose, boo, swallow it all down, the next goal is to try and win...
it gets pretty routine after a while.... over time u just get a bit numb & u are no longer afraid of losing....

there's this saying that i saw on a tennis video that says "Never fear the result of the match" simply becoz the process is more important.... as long as u gave it your all, u have nothing to be ashamed of... so i always try my best, as in do anything to win and unfortunately this comes off to some people as being overly serious... they think i play tennis with the wrong intention... that i'm not enjoying it anymore... which i admit sometimes is true...

anyway, that is why i feel it's no big deal to suffer a loss... the only way u can get on top is from the bottom...

oh great, now i just sound philosophical... sorry i went on and on, it's just that i'm so passionate about tennis... if u read this whole thing, thank u... i just had to let this out...

yes yes yes yes!!!

forgive me for doing this but:

wahahahahahaha woo hoo yee hah weeeeeee.....

lalala lalalala lalala lalalala.... la la lalala.... la la la lalala....

muahahahaha hoo hoo hoo hee hee woooooooooooo.....

yes yes yes hahaha and a big 'Come On!' for a job well done...

i'm so glad that i did not disappoint myself... i'm officially allowed to be on the roads... so watch out! NO, really, watch out... coz i might not be in total control of the vehicle....

today's driving test couldn't have gone any better... started with the slope, which in my mind was the toughest of the tests, but i was so damn lucky to have made the yellow box.... then onwards, i just did the parking and 3 point turn with oozing confidence....

the road test was slightly shaky, i was scolded once for drifting into another lane after a roundabout, but other than that it was ok.... heck, the guy was napping halfway through the journey, it made things even easier for me hehehe....

the only thing which i didn't enjoy was the long hours of waiting.... i went there at 8, and only got home at about 4.30pm.... it's been a long day but man am i happy...

RIGHT NOW THERE IS ONLY ONE SONG TO LISTEN TO:

wimbledon draw released

hey, the draw for Wimbledon 2008 has been released, i've seen it but i'm not going to talk too much about it coz ur probably not that interested...

anyway, some (including Novak Djokovic) predict that 2008 will be the end of Federer's reign at Wimbledon, considering how amazingly Rafael Nadal has played this season, including on grass... I will be supporting Nadal coz he's a lefty just like me!

in the women's draw, top seed Ana Ivanovic could meet Serena Williams in the semis, while defending champion Venus Williams is seeded to face Maria Sharapova in the bottom half. Predictions? I would bet on Venus coz she's won it 4 times, but she lacks match play this season so i'm going for Maria...

on to other things, i will be taking my driving test next Tuesday... don't know how i will do... but i feel quite good about it... what i need now is luck that nothing bad happens...

hope all goes well... here's another video... 'Your Disco Needs You' by Kylie....

i love the opera like notes from 3:59 to 4:17.... enjoy =)

I Salute U

i've always had an obsession with Lego... there u have it...
i'm sure you have played with it as a kid, but it really is an all time collectible...

it's fun when u build it, when u play with it, & of course when u display it...

they're expensive though, no doubt about that...

so when i stumbled upon a mini exhibition at 1 Utama, and also a whole shop in the Gardens dedicated to Lego... i just snapped away...

there's just something so timeless about Lego men.... they r sexy, cool, ever changing, good looking, and simply classic... i salute you!

saving myself

oh finally can get online...
something was wrong with it yesterday...

for the past few days i've been feeling a little strange.... like kinda trap inside the house...
coz 2/3 of the family was away on a trip and i was sort of left alone from morning till evening...

can't go anywhere i can't drive yet... at one point when the Internet crashed i felt like i was disconnected from the world... ok, maybe that's a little dramatic...

but reli... there's nothing to do at home...luckily my sis brought back a stack of DVD's so that was my only company...

i was really dying from the inside... talking to myself....
..........................
.............................
..................................
in times like this, i resorted to 2 things that kept me sane: music & food....
Music remedy is the best, no matter how u feel there's a song for it...
and Food... wow, i eat till i can't eat anymore to make myself happy....

thankfully everyone is back now and things are back to normal....
I really really need to get out more.............

Registered

it's official...
i'm registered...wow, it sounds like i'm either a farm animal or a criminal...

you've probably guessed it, i was talking about college....

i'm going to be part of MUFY & Sun-U in July 08...

i hate to say this but i'm starting to get nerves...
it's just surreal, coz i have been on hols for so long...

moving to a new environment always scares me... coz i'm not exactly a quick adapter...
but then again just about everyone i know has gone through this...

so many things running through my mind now...
mostly things that frighten me...
OK, better stop... coz if i choose to worry,
i can make an endless list of things that could possibly go wrong...

I must stay true to the Nike slogan: Just Do It!

Oh, on a happier note, today's driving lesson went smoothly, i managed to do the slope, parking and three point turn... another lesson this Sunday... =)

what i'm watching now

hehe as u all know i'm still on holiday.... these days i spend more time in front of the TV...
i know a lot of ppl are busy and tied up with a million responsibilities but hey if u wanna watch TV, let me recommend what i think is nice...

AXN is airing Season 4 of House, and i think it's really good... Dr.House is in the process of hiring a new team and this show is witty, funny and addictive... It's different from Grey's Anatomy (which i also really like) in the sense that the focus of the show is more on the diagnosis and treating of patients, but it doesn't abandon character growth... Guess i'm just a sucker for shows about medicine...

also i'm following Season 2 of Prison Break which airs on Star World, but i discovered that 8TV is already showing Season 3... This show is brilliant, i must say the writers did a good job to keep the plot exciting and there's a surprise in every episode...

If you are more into reality shows, try Malaysia's version of 'So You Think You Can Dance' which is on 8TV... now, most Malaysian remakes have been less that appealing, like Malaysian Idol and Project Runway Malaysia... but the 2nd season of this dance talent show is actually not bad... turns out that Malaysians can dance!

For comedies, i like to watch Hope & Faith and also 30 Rock... both shows are hilarious... catch them on Star World, 10-11pm Monday...

also, CSI is airing a new season on AXN if i'm not mistaken, i'm not a follower of the franchise but some of my family members are...

have fun watching TV!

In Pictures: my past few weeks

i thought it would be nice for u to see what i've seen lately... =)
just random things from different places... all snapped with my handy hp...

...at a German restaurant in The Curve

Oh, recently my family discovered a new area (to us at least) called Dataran Sunway at Kota Damansara which is between Tropicana and The Curve... this place is like a food paradise... from coffee shops to cafes to restaurants of all cuisines... we also stumbled upon a shop that sells lots of fresh fruits and veges...

ByeBye Clay, Hello Grass!

Roland Garros is over after 2 weeks of quality tennis from a handful of players...

and it was no surprise that Rafael Nadal would win his fourth consecutive French Open title, cementing his status as one of the greatest clay court players of all time... he has NEVER loss a single match at Roland Garros.... and i just love the green shirt he's wearing this year...

Ana Ivanovic made Serbia proud when she lifted her first Grand Slam title, an indication of many more to come... also, with this win she replaces Maria Sharapova as the new world No.1....

now it's time for the brief grass court season, my favourite surface... Wimbledon will be at the end of this month, and i will be getting another case of Slam Fever!

Drained

sorry it's been a no show for the past couple of days...

haven't been doing much lately other than watching and playing tennis...

the French Open has concluded, n i will post about that later...

i have been playing sports for the past 4 consecutive days, n it has clearly built it's toll on me...

have not felt so tired since doing physical stuff in NS and having to wake up at 5.30am everyday...

played almost 3 hours yesterday until 11pm, and this morning when i woke up it felt like i got ran over by a bike...

ok, imagine a chocolate bar in it's wrapper that has completely melted... that's how i feel inside now... i'd better go into the fridge a.k.a. get some rest before the chocolate leaks out...

haha... ever since coming back from NS i've had this constant hunger to play tennis, and it was what i got... now, i'm actually getting a bit sick of it coz i have had too much...

SO i told myself to take at least 3 days off from this sport... that way i will be fresh going into a future match...

On A High

yay, today was my second driving lesson...

it was lots of fun!

even though i was pretty tensed throughout the whole thing, but it was awesome when i was going fast...

today i did almost everything u see on the roads, from traffic lights to junctions to highways.... we drove in the Bandar Utama area, and also passed by TTDI and Damansara Utama...

the best part was the highway, it's quite intimidating coz there's a lot of fast cars but i love going fast on fourth gear... the only problem is slowing down and avoiding other vehicles...

also i still can't judge distances well... for example when i should start breaking... sometimes i stop way too early, sometimes i almost hit the car in front...

next week i'm gonna pick up the pace and do two 4 hour lessons.... So it's eight hours of practice... i really look forward to it... =)

Leakage in Sands of Time

time sure is passing at hyper speed... is it June already?

i can hardly believe that another month is gone & the clock inside my head is ticking continuously and gradually getting louder & louder...

it has made me so conscious of how i spend every second.... (pretty much sitting around doing nothing)... my holidays are coming to an end, and i'm both happy & sad at the same time...

but i'm sure it's for the better, any longer & i will probably become eternally stupid...

here's a nice video to kick start this month:
