nine in the afternoon

hey, i really like this new song by Panic At The Disco. It's called 'Nine In The Afternoon'.

now if u think carefully, how can it possibly be 9 in the afternoon? after watching the video, i realised that the concept the band is using is a reversed clock - the numbers are in descending order as it goes round clockwise... haha, it's a freaky video too, just like the name of the album implies: PrettyOdd...

but i like it. it's a very funky, cool n just happy feel good song... the lead singer has a good voice too..have a listen..

LOL

ok, to take away the seriousness of my previous entry, here is something worth a laugh...

i first saw this picture at NS, when a speaker put this pic into her slides to get our attention during a talk... but too bad becoz i reli can't remember what the talk was about... =)

---i just couldn't stop laughing when i saw this---

failure to decide

my latest happening...

i have simply been unable to decide on my future.....................................

yeah, i'm seriously lost, i thought i had things figured out some time ago but the problem is i constantly change my mind... first, my target was to do Food Science and Technology at Monash, hence i wanted to do the monash university foundation year (MUFY) at Sunway... this was my plan for a long time, it felt right before i went for NS...
but after coming back, i have talked to a lot of different people, which in one way or another influenced my way of thinking. so here r some of my never before told thoughts....
in my opinion, doing food science is something that is steady, or should i say playing it safe, it's like the typical successful career n a good salary in my opinion...n to do it at Monash it's great i think, it's such a prestigious degree to obtain...but sometimes i think that Science is heavy and boring sometimes... and there is this other side of me that wants to do something i enjoy more but may not necessarily be a lucrative career...
this brings me back to the age old debate of whether a hobby or interest can really be a career option... they r things that we enjoy, for example dining and music.. but these things may not always be suitable to pursue as a job... after all, a job is something we do to earn a living... does this make sense to u? in short, i just feel that there has to be a balance, becoz we DO have to enjoy what we do on a daily basis to be happy, but then again interest is something that can be built over time, so i guess it's ok to study something that u dun reli enjoy NOW but will guarantee a very good career in the future becoz in time u will learn to accept it..
but INTEREST is just a portion or factor that is influencing my choice making. they r many other factors, LOCATION is one of them. i don't intend to go overseas or stay in a hostel, so my options have been limited....
but really the thing that bugs me most is the fact that i just can't settle with a course... from food science, i wanted to move to language studies, English in particular, and then i shifted to wilder things like Mass Comm.... haih, maybe i just need a little more time...
but then again, time is something that i have a plenty, too much in fact.... sometimes i wish i had less time or some kind of pressure, so that i will quickly choose....
sometimes i wish my parents would just point a gun at me and force me to study something of their choice...
ok, maybe that is a little too dramatic, i'm not as crazy and empty headed as u think... dun worry this is just a small matter i guess... nothing life threatening here... n definitely NO suicidal thoughts...hahahahahaha... =P
i know, i know, i'm a total @$$....

A Serbian Sweep

The 1 and a half week Pacific Life Open at Indian Wells has concluded with few surprises. It was a glorious week for Serbian fans of the game as Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic took home the men's and women's title, respectively. Novak put up some inspiring shot making to defeat Mardy Fish in the final, the US player who shock everyone by outsting Roger Federer in the semis. As for the women's side, Ana Ivanovic showed her maturity in handling big and tight matches, something which i feel that she lacked previously by keeping herself calm on the court while playing really really well, especially that killer forehand... whoa, i mean those winners were so close to the line...The nightmare continues for Roger Federer, but it's still way too early to write him off becoz he IS after all a champion in so many ways.

It was a week of good tennis, and there will be more when the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami starts later this week. It is a cool tournament becoz the matches r played at night i think, and the field should be equally strong... however, Maria Sharapova has pulled out of this event, she made the decision just hours after losing her 1st match of the year to Svetlana Kuznetsova in the semis of the Pacific Life Open... she claims that she needs a break after a tight schedule for the past 3 months... even without her presence, the field at Miami is still strong, with world no.1 Justine Henin leading the way, followed by Ana Ivanovic, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Jelena Jankovic, and of course the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena.

can't wait for it to start.. =)

A Night 2 Remember

Hey, i have not been here for some time becoz i have been busy with some stuff..

Anyway, i want to tell u about last Saturday (22/3). I met up with a bunch of PBSM friends to 'yum cha' at SS2. We went to Wong Kok, almost everyone arrived slightly late but it was ok as the night was still young. What i thought to be a 2-3 hour dinner gathering turned out to be so much more. I guess we haven't sat down like this together for such a long time we just kept talking and talking and it seemed like our topics were endless... haha, around 11.30pm we decided to go to Yu Xuan's house (not all of us, some went home) and there was a new plan to overnight at his place. Yu Xuan's family were also at SS2 eating supper so i managed to hitch a ride to their place... i'm really touched by the fact that Uncle still remembers my name and he called me the moment i sat foot into their Unser. Yu Xuan's elder sister was our ex-senior and his younger brother is my junior also in PBSM so i guess i already knew half of the family. What i really like about their family is the fact that they're so close, believe me Yu Xuan's dad has to be one of the coolest, friendliest dad's around... The 6 of us were well welcomed into their familiar condo (we were there 4 their house warming some time ago) and they even took the initiative to dig out pillows, blankets and sleeping bags from the store room to make sure we all had a place to sleep (haha, although we didn't used it in the end)... Oh, did i mention that Yu Xuan's house is only like 5 minutes walk from my home.. Yeah, but it was still fun to spend the night there. =)Their unit is the same floor as the pool, so their 'balcony' was overlooking the beautiful landscape. There was a nice little round table with chairs so we sat there and talked while the family went to sleep. We talked till 3am, and moved into the living room becoz it was starting to freeze out there, not to mention that my feet was becoming a mosquito sushi bar... We watched TV and continued chatting(what we do best), and it was only until 4 or 4.30 that our mouths got itchy and we decided to go to Kayu Nasi Kandar (coz it's opened 24hrs)..........

Yup, this is the FIRST time i ever had Roti at 4am... and the funniest thing was Jit Teng was driving his Kancil and he had to go 2 rounds to send us there becoz they were 7 of us. We finished at 5.30 i think and we went back to the condo. Then we watched tv, and found a live tennis match! We watched Nadal play Djokovic, then Federer against Mardy Fish... Around 6.30am, we decided to go coz Chan Fatt had to work around 7am. Jit Teng sent me home and i discovered that everyone in the house was still asleep so i just went back to my room and Zzzzzz away....

haha, this was a very fun night, although i'm not very keen on doing it often coz it really messes up my internal clock... But these days i find myself liking to do this sort of stuff, i mean to have fun and go out more and be a little rebellious... But don't worry,i'm NOT becoming a BAD boy haha... I know better than that... Our next gathering would most probably be Huei Sing's farewell. She is going to further her studies in Japan...

I took these pictures while we were at Wong Kok with my new phone. And for me to be able to put it into my computer and upload it into here, it's a big achievement already! I'm sure u know how dumb i can be when it comes to technology. hehe check out Tung Tung's new haircut, it's as short as my hair! And if u look closely, u can see that most guys in the picture have really short hair coz we all went to NS... The quality of the pictures r not too bad, 3.2 megapixels but it looks clearer on the phone than in the PC...
Hope we will have lots more of good times to come!

Things heat up at Indian Wells

A joint ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA tour event at Indian Wells (US), the Pacific Life Tournament this week is starting to heat up as the top players make it to the quarter final rounds... I really like this tennis tournament... it is one of the bigger events outside the 4 major grand slams in terms of prize money... the dessert atmosphere with gusting winds at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden is exciting... and the champion's trophy is a really cool statue of a whale i think... I usually pay more attention to the women's event... this year, Maria Sharapova has an unbeaten run so far, so it's interesting to see how long she can keep this up. World no.4 Jelena Jankovic has been really solid in this tournament, but she faces a stern test from former world no.1 and recent mum Lindsay Davenport of the U.S. in the QF's... Top seed and world no.2 Ana Ivanovic has been pretty impressive too this season... Women's tennis is more exciting to me becoz the game is rather even and everyone has a chance of winning whereas in the men's game, it's always Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal... and most recently Novak Djokovic.. Sometimes i just wish that more players can rise up to the challenge of toppling these great players... not that i don't like them, it's just that men's tennis needs more excitement... hehehe i'm no pro but that is my opinion...

Oops...

looking back at my previous entries i mentioned that i would be getting a new HP from my mum... but it turns out that this phone is a gift from my eldest sister and Alvin...

so if u r reading this, thanks che and Alvin... u guys totally rock!!! i will take really good care of my new gizmo... muahahahahahaha...

(gosh, why does it sound slightly freaky...)

totally chillin'

hey.. it's been a few very fun and relaxing days for me... first of all, i'm officially NOT going for the March intake at Sunway so that effectively means i'm a free man for another few months... went to Sunway's open day on Sunday and i got some facts clear... with those worries behind me, i can now put my attention to other more 'important' things hehehe...

So, many people have asked me: "Just what do you plan to do in these few months?" Well, I actually made a list of 30 over things to do whilst I was in NS... yes, since there was a lot of spare time during weekends i made a list of things that i wanted to achieve as soon as i got home... Honestly, i still can't believe that i'm at home now, and i actually lived through 2 and a 1/2 months in Gua Musang... When i was there, i felt that time was frozen... i really wanted things to end sooner so that i can resume my normal life... but right now it feels weird... i'm simply unable to describe how i feel... sometimes it feels as though i have been gone for ages as so many things have developed; but in other situations, i feel like nothing much has changed here and my sister who was at the dining table with me eating dinner said that it felt like i never left...hmm....

anyway, let's look forward, not back... as i was saying i have a little to-do list, and i hope i can accomplish as many of those goals as possible... i will not tell u what is in that list, partly because some of those things are personal, so let's just let it unfold by itself - when i do tick something of my list, i will let u know...=) my plans ahead r BIG, i supposed i can say that, but nothing is really certain right now as i'm still in the drawing board phase and things r slowly but surely taking shape...

these few days seem to slip by me like some kind of slippery thing, i feel like i haven't really done much. first of all, i watched a movie at 1 Utama. erm, the show was 10,000 B.C..... It was alright, nothing much to shout about but i have to say the graphics were not bad and what appealed to me most was the unpredictable plot...i mean seriously, from freezing mountains to dry greenery, from mammoths to prehistoric man eating birds.... then the appearance of desserts and pyramids ruled by a bunch of creeps from a distant land... it may not exactly fit in the time frame, so it does makes one wonder whether the story did take place in 10,000 BC... Apart from that, i did enjoy the show because it was exciting... however i didn't quite like the ending... i think it would be more appropriate if Evolet, the lead actress died....for good...

Other than watching this show, i went to the bank, shopping at 1 Utama on another day.... Oh yeah, i also went to Kajang one evening with my parents... Our plan was to see this property in the town, but it was a great disappointment as our expectations were much higher than what we saw... So after that my dad suggested that we go eat Kajang Satay - what this place is most famous for i guess... My dad wanted to bring us to a place he had been to the last time he was there (that was like 10-20 years ago, i'm not kidding) but he could not find the stall... probably because it has been such a long time the place has changed entirely.. In the end, we settled for a stall at a coffee shop... the place mainly sells satay and BBQ chicken wings but they also have fried noodles... I was amazed by the variety of satay they have: chicken, beef, mutton, fish, duck. we ordered 5 sticks each of chicken, beef, mutton and fish.... I thought it tasted alright, but my parents said it was poorly done.... they claim that the meat was soft and it wasn't properly cooked.... haha i think that since i returned from NS, i have a much greater appreciation of things and to me, everything that i have put into my mouth so far since returning here has been delicious.... My expectations towards food have dropped.... in a way this is good, i'm a less picky eater now...

oh, and just yesterday night i got my new HP... after a much extensive self research spread over 2 days... i found a phone that i really liked... the Nokia N73 Music Edition....and right now as i type this blog entry it lies so beautifully on the computer desk.... it's so hot haha but it's really high tech so it will take me some time to master this new gadget by reading the thick user's manual...
i'm really satisfied right now and my mind is at peace... haha that may sound a little too much but it's true...so my main target now is to acquire a driving license a.s.a.p and also to keep myself busy and do productive things so that i don't waste the next 3-4 months as a couch potato. I intend to pick up a new skill too, not sure what but like i said, a lot of things r still in the works so keep an eye out for the ever growing and evolving revolution that is YoongHsiang... =)

quick update + Kylie Adverts

hey... haha i know i promised that i would talk about my experience at NS, but i'm just feeling laaaaaaaazzzzzyy lately so give me some time... tomorrow i will be going to Sunway University College for their open day, and there's a big chance that i'll enrol for their March intake... I really want to go for the July intake instead but due to some unexpected reasons, my initial plans just went down the drain... it's frustrating really, i really wanted to get some time off to chill a bit... u know, pamper and spoil myself for a while before going back to grueling study schedules...

i guess life cannot always work out the way you want it to be... anyway, on a higher note i will be getting a new mobile phone (yay!) from my mum as a reward i guess for my SPM... Haven't really decide which model or brand to get but there's no rush so i'll take my time.... i don't want to regret later for choosing something that i don't like...

oh, i went to play tennis with my sister and her friend recently and i'm so relieved that i can still make some decent shots despite not stepping on a tennis court for 3 months... honestly i wasn't expecting much, because it takes consistent practice to maintain a good form and i was clearly sluggish and my timing was off most of the time... there just wasn't the 'feel' when i was playing, i think it will take some time for me to regain my momentum and play good tennis again... I was disappointed actually because these few days there is a tennis tournament going on at the national tennis centre, the Ayam A1 Junior Championships... I unfortunately missed out on the chance to play there because i was at NS when they sent me an e-mail about it. the closing date was in late February, and i was clearly absent at that time. This tournament has significance to me because i was defeated in the first round of this event the year before... I really wanted to seek revenge because my game has improved a whole lot since that loss and i wanted to test the waters and see where i stand. too bad, i'll never get to do so because next year i will be over 18 and it means i won't qualify for the JUNIOR tournament anymore...

well, i know there will be many more tournaments to come and i will have my chance to take part... i promise to myself that i'll work extra hard to shine on a tennis court and be glorious! just wait and see... =)

at the mean time, check out some really cool ads featuring non other than Kylie...=)

somewhere over the rainbow

hehe... just feel like posting this... one of my favourite kylie live performances... =)

i'm back!!!

muahahahahahahahahaha.........
Has it been another month already?
I can't believe I'm sitting at home now and living life as usual... No words can describe how excited and amazed i am to finally be out of NS...
I actually reached home yesterday at 2pm but i was so tired after unpacking i really needed a rest... so that brings me here today...
In days to come i will share with u guys my experience in NS as i believe that will take some time...
Oh today was also the day SPM results were released... But i wasn't really thinking about it at all until i reached school this morning. Anyway, I am satisfied with my results considering the amount of effort i put into it last year which was as usual, LAST MINUTE-express train studying... Heck, if it works for me why not? haha...i'm so thankful for getting away with it yet again.... However, i promise i will work harder when i go to college...
Right now i feel energised and fresh really... Coming out from the other side of all this... after 2 and a half months at gua musang... There's just soooooooooooooooo much that i want to see and do..
If only I could bottle up all my excitement and market it.... Then people will understand how i feel... I think that's all for today... will keep u updated.. =)
