Hold On + Let Go

OK i'm finally accepting the fact that the concert is over.

Was kinda sad for a while... U know, i've been eagerly anticipating the 25th of Nov for so many weeks. Then all of a sudden, the moment just passed me by... What now?
A concert is something that u enjoy at that instance, after that it sort of fades away a little day by day. I guess the saying "All good things come to an end" is true. But don't get me wrong, I never regretted going to the show. In fact, i think i would hate myself if I missed it.

All I can do now is cherish this piece of my life that will never be erased. Must look on the bright side. But still i think its time to move on.

This is the 3rd pic post from my recent trip =)

Wanted to snap pics of Xmas deco at Orchard Road, but it was nothing special... Someone told us that this year's concept wasn't as good as the previous year.

Didn't intend to do tourist stuff, but since we had time...
Why not?

Affordable. Simple.

We got a Japanese themed room. The entrance was a shady sliding wood panel.
It doesn't get more basic than this: bed, air con, mini table, light.
Bathroom was shared but there weren't many ppl so it was alright.

Post Kylie Show Effect

Hey I'm back from Singapore!
It's been 2 days since the concert, but to be honest i'm still not fully recovered.
The night after the show I think I was on a high. It's hard to describe, I was a little confused as to how i felt then...
But every now and then when i try to relive the moment in my head- the image of Kylie, the songs she sang and the stadium- it just feels awesome. The live show experience was a little different from what I expected it to be, but overall the whole thing can be summed up as MIND BLOWING.
It's just sick. The visual effects were stunning, the music was extremely loud I could feel the thumping in my heart, and Kylie.... She looked fantastic. So much prettier in person. Her radiant skin was glowing. She had 6 wardrobe changes for 6 different themes/acts.
They were some minor drawbacks, for instance at times the music was so loud I could not hear the singing well. Other than that, it was a good show. I loved it when Kylie interacted with the audience. She was flirty and funny as well.
The best part of the show? Most likely the fact that I was in an arena filled with Kylie fans. Everyone was there that night for the same purpose. Throughout the show, many were on their feet dancing and cheering. It was also amazing to see the fans singing along with Kylie.
I got to be a wild fan for a night. I sang and I danced. I had a great time. This experience was priceless & I think its safe to say that 'I Should Be So Lucky, Lucky Lucky Lucky' hahaha. =)

5 More Days...

till the concert that i've been waiting for so long!

I've never been so excited before. And happy too.
I'm on holiday, I saw Federer in flesh, I will be on a Singapore trip, I will see KylieX2008, I might be going to Penang for a eating trip, and I might go to Melaka to help with a party.
It doesn't get more exciting than this.

WOW... I cannot believe I'm going to a Kylie Minogue show in a matter of days. I thought she would never come here any time soon.

I hope she is healthy and safe. She will be performing in Dubai and Bangkok before going to Singapore. After that she will head to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Taipei to conclude the Asian leg of the tour.

Most arrangements for my trip hav been made, i'm leaving on Monday morning by bus. Will be back on Wednesday night. Till then, bye =)

I'm on the frontpage of The Star!

Seriously. This is not a joke. Go check out today's Star newspaper. There is a picture with hundreds of ppl, and in it is my sis and I.

OK... I admit its a very very small picture of me, but that's still cool rite? Hahahaha...
Found me yet? Alright, here's a hint. I'm in red, and i'm near the caption on the right. See it now? The girl right below me focusing on her camera is my sister.
Actually we went to see Roger Federer yesterday at the Petronas twin towers. There was a very brief 'meet the fans' session where Federer was signing autographs. So many came, it started at 11.45am but we reached at 11am and the line was already quite long.

Some die hard fans came early in the morning... U should have seen the crowd's reaction when Federer's car arrived... He was surrounded by VERY big sized bodyguards, the fans were running like animals towards him, screaming "FEDERER FEDERER!" and taking pictures of him. It was quite a scene.

Before Federer left, he was standing at the terrace, waving & smiling to all the fans gathered at the bottom. It felt really amazing looking at Federer in person. Even though i'm not a big fan, but when he was looking at us, the feeling cannot be described. It's kinda like Whoa........ He is actually slimmer than i thought, but is still quite good looking. He looked really poised, graceful, like a god or something.

This was an enriching experience. Just to be in the same room, breathing the same air as someone so famous like Roger Federer, I will remember this day for a long time. =)

The shadow in the middle is Federer.

Djokovic wins

The ATP Masters Cup concluded today after several quality matches.

In the round robin stage, Djokovic topped his group with Davydenko second. But it was the results in the other group that was shocking. Murray topped the group (kinda expected) but Federer didn't make it due to his sore back. The Federer vs. Murray match was pretty intense, but in the end it was Murray who triumphed. Federer's lost meant that Gilles Simon also qualified for the semis.

The semi final matches brought about another shock, with Murray losing to Davydenko probably becoz Murray was so exhausted from his match with Federer less than 24 hours ago. Djokovic beat Simon in a tough match too.

The final was relatively one sided, just as the 2 previous finals in the Masters Cup (when Federer trashed James Blake in 06 and David Ferrer in 07). Djokovic ends the year on a high note, while Federer can only hope that next season he will make a strong comeback.

I just wrote a summary like for an English assignment. Freaky... =)

Muff-in, Mufy-out

Hooray! My first semester of MUFY is completed. What a short sem this has been, but who cares, i'm officially on holiday now!

It's strange becoz i can't believe i'm done for the year... It feels as though i haven't accomplished much academic wise. Oh well... i'm not complaining, I actually enjoy the easy life.

I'm not going to celebrate or say anymore, coz i know some of u guys r still in the battlefield, esp. those doing A levels at Taylors, i heard u guys have an exam period that spans many weeks. I know it's draining so good luck! Go kick ass!

Today is the last day for 6 formers too, so Yu Xuan & Jit Teng, if u guys wanna go play tennis, call me. =) I really want to spend more time improving my game, so i'll need all the practice i can get. I'm on the lookout for tournaments too, u get great exposure playing with other players.

That's all for now. =)

I've Got A Crafty Sister

It all started one day when my third sis wanted a pirate rabbit soft toy. My mum said that she could make one, but in the end it was my second sis who amazingly made this rabbit soft toy from scratch.... When she showed it to her friends, they just wouldn't believe that it was hand made by her.. This is an indication of how good her creative & sewing skills are.. I suggested that maybe it was from sewing all her patients up (since she is a doctor)

I know this doesn't look like a rabbit, but this was how the original design looked like.. Only some minor changes. All i can say is Wow... I saw it being created from the sketching, to the cutting of fabric, to the stuffing of cotton... Most of the materials are scrap from home, so Grimm (it's name) costs about RM15... excluding the labour of course, which in fact is priceless =)

Check out more pics of Grimm at my sis' blog.

Masters Cup

Ok i know i've been blogging a lot about tennis lately, but it's only becoz the end of the season is near. The women's WTA tour is done for 2008, and the Masters Cup this week will wrap up the men's season. (excluding the Davis cup final)

The Masters Cup has a similar format to the WTA Championships... The round robin groupings are:

RED GROUP
Roger Federer
Andy Murray
Andy Roddick
Gilles Simon

GOLD GROUP
Novak Djokovic
Nikolay Davydenko
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga
Juan Martin del Potro

World no.1 Rafael Nadal is a significant absentee, he's not playing due to injury.
Some round robin matches hav been played.. I watched a bit and I feel that Federer is holding back a little... Maybe he is still nursing his injury, so he's trying to take it easy.

In the Gold Group, Djokovic has already been assured a semi final spot, having won 2 tough matches against del Potro and Davydenko. I noticed Davydenko was playing well too. Tsonga and del Potro just lack the experience playing in the big stage.

In the Red Group, Gilles Simon defeated Federer (the 2nd time this year!)... I still believe Federer is going to pull through somehow and make it to the semis... I would also expect Andy Murray to get through. He has been playing really well for the past few months.

Predictions?
Djokovic will top the Gold Group with Davydenko as second, while Murray will top the Red Group with Federer second. Just my guess...

We will see whether i'm right... btw Bio paper tomorrow!! I still have 3 more chapters to finish.. Better get going now =)

Venus is the queen

Just as the title suggests, Venus Williams has won the WTA championships, destroying Vera Zvonareva in the final.
Venus beat Jelena Jankovic, the world no.1 in the semis, and in the final, she was serving so hard and accurate in the last few games of the third set, Vera had no chance.

This was a quality match, but i still felt that last year's final was much better.

It was between Justine Henin and Maria Sharapova, both were playing very well. The match was exciting from start to finish becoz the score was so close, either one of them could have won... That match was really long, took more than 3 hours to finish...

It's a pity Justine has retired, as for Maria, i hope she gets well soon and stay injury free in 2009. But right now, Venus is the one to beat.
The men's version of the championship, called the Masters Cup is on this week in Shanghai & i will blog about it soon =)

Hot N Cold

I like Katy Perry.
She has this unique quality... kinda like a comedian.

This catchy tune has a very interesting video to match. Enjoy!

WTA update

just a quick update. hehe i have to talk about it.

if ur not into tennis, skip to the next post =)

So round robin action has come to an end, quite an unexpected one actually.
Well, both Serena and Ana have pulled out, Serena has an abdominal injury, Ana caught a virus. Safina's performance was quite disappointing, as well as Kuznetsova...

Anyway,
Zvonareva has won all 3 of her round robin matches, hence she is the leader in the White group. Second place goes to Jankovic.

In the Maroon group, Venus won 3 matches too and heads the group, and Dementieva also qualified for the semis by virtue of Serena's withdrawal.

This means that the semi final line up is as follows:
Vera Zvonareva VS. Elena Dementieva
Venus Williams VS. Jelena Jankovic

This 2 matches will be played tonight. The final is on tomorrow night.

3 down, 1 to go

Yay now that Chemistry is out of the way, only my "good" friend Biology remains..

To be honest, i was always very fond of this subject, but studying it for an exam is certainly a daunting task. Just thinking about the amount of things i hav to memorize makes me shiver. thank god i have 5 more days to prepare.

Had a good dinner last night with my sisters... went to the Mediterranean Restaurant at Plaza Mont Kiara. I had delicious paella.

Btw, went to MTV Asia's website & I saw that the Top 100 hits of the year contest is back! Last year i took part, and just one day before i went to NS, i discovered i won!!! The prize was a super cool touch screen Samsung MP3 player worth about RM700. This year, the prize is a new Gibson Les Paul 2008 Standard electric guitar worth USD3,899.
All I have to say is people really win on MTV, so do take part!

As the days go by, the KylieX2008 concert is drawing closer and closer. Once i finish my Bio paper, i will start making some serious holiday plans. Will be spending a few days in Melaka at my sister's place after going to Singapore. Plan to see more and do more during my long break =)

Also, there is this Thai horror movie called 'The Coffin' that i want to watch, coz my 3rd sis said it was not bad. The problem is no one else in my family is into horror, and i don't know a lot of friends that like this genre as well. So, i'm asking for someone to go with me... Just text me or something ok? I will be quite free from now till the 24th. The tickets r on me =)

that's all for now... Pray that Bio will go easy on me..=P

Sony Ericsson WTA Championships

i know i'm in the midst of an exam, but that doesn't mean i can't slot in some TV time rite hehe..
(btw, math paper today was ok)

This week there is some electrifying tennis to catch: The WTA Championships in Doha.

For those non-tennis fans out there, i will explain briefly the format of this unique tournament.

The top 8 players of 2008 will be split into 2 groups, this year there is the:

White Group
Jelena Jankovic (SRB)
Ana Ivanovic (SRB)
Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS)
Vera Zvonareva (RUS)

Maroon Group
Dinara Safina (RUS)
Serena Williams (USA)
Elena Dementieva (RUS)
Venus Williams (USA)

So the initial stage of the competition is the round robin face off, where each player will play against the other 3 players in their group. After that, 2 players with the highest scores from each group will be in the semi finals.

The player with most points from the White group will play against the player with the 2nd most points from the Maroon group.
The player with most points from the Maroon group will play against the player with the 2nd most points from the White group.

Then the winners of this 2 matches will meet each other in the final. Interesting format rite?

So, every player has an equal chance of winning the trophy. Really fair i think.

At this point, i cannot predict who is going to win, but my fav pick is Jelena.

You can watch all the excitement on Astro's Channel 814 Eurosport.
Bye =)

the truth

ok, i just realize something.

all this while i've been talking about the entrance scholarship for Monash.

guess what? i went to check the requirement again becoz i forgot the figures, and i realize i'm just not good enough for it.

I don't think the problem is with me though, coz i know i'm not dumb,
BUT it's just that Monash is in a class of its own. I respect that.

I'm not even upset, becoz I think it is almost impossible. Don't believe me? Let's do some math together.

Alright, there are 3 categories for the scholarship: 100%, 50% and 20% tuition fee discount.
Let's take the one with the lowest requirement: the 20% scholarship.

To qualify for it, you need a MUFY score of 365/400. On average, that's 91.25% for each of the four subjects. Now, let's take a look at my potential score:

My internal score for English is 41/50, and i know the maximum i can get for my external is probably not more than 40/50. So, that's 81/100.

365 minus 81 is 284.... This means that for Maths, Bio and Chem i have to score an average of 95% each. Hahahahahahahaha..........

My math internal is 39.4/40, let's say i get 55/60 for my external, so that's 94.4%... quite close.

BUT......

My internal for Bio is 46/50, so that means i need 49/50 for my external which is quite impossible.

My internal for Chem is 45/50, so that means i need 50/50 for my external. Full marks wor, how can???

SO NOW DO U UNDERSTAND MY SITUATION? I think I did really well for my internal, it's already quite high ok...

Never mind.
So here's the conclusion:
I can definitely qualify for my course, coz the requirement is only 240/400, but there's just no way I can get the scholarship where the requirement is 365/400. I can live with that.

Sorry, mum and dad. I hope you will understand that i'm already giving it my all. I will still try my best to achieve the highest score possible within my abilities.

just to be on the safe side...

I don't believe in natural talent.
I don't believe anyone is born intelligent or better than other people. Unless ur that one in a million prodigy.
I do believe that success can only be achieved through hard work...
through dilligence, through discipline...

But there is also another thing that i believe in:

LUCK.

Not that I like to rely on it, but it sure wouldn't hurt to have a truck full of it.
Hence, here are some famous lucky charms from all over the world!

Dedicated from me to everyone who has their exams this November =)

triple celebration

Yesterday went to Wong Kok in SS2 to celebrate Chai Yee's birthday. Also celebrated Lok Mun & Yu Xuan's b'day in advance.

Coz it was Chai Yee's birthday yesterday, so we got the Birthday Milk Tea for free! It's a giant mug of milk tea... I mean freaking gigantic. I lazy to upload pic so i recommend going to Zhi Shan's blog (see links) to see some quality pictures.. He brought his camera, flash gun and even a tripod. Talk about pro...

And everything seemed to be extra BIG yesterday. (hmm... that sounds slightly obscene) After Wong Kok, we went to Kayu for drinks. And yes, we ordered the roti tissue... Really long!

Yesterday was another milestone for me, becoz i drove on my own at night! Reached home after midnight.. It was pretty fun, feels like i've grown up and became independent muahahaha...

Had a good time... I hope Yu Xuan & Lok Mun will like their presents coz i picked them with care.. And thanks to my sis for wrapping them coz i've terrible wrapping skills =P

HAPPY 18th =)
