one for the history books

Wimbledon 2008 has finished in a great way, as yesterday's gentlemen's singles title was bagged by the great fighter Rafael Nadal...

this is a glorious moment for Nadal, Spaniards & left hand-ers around the world (like me hahaha) should be happy! unless ur a fan of Federer lah...

but this match was really an extremely long one, with a rain interruption deep in the third set... when the match ended, the Centre Court was already dark, so photographers and fans all around the stadium were using their flashes to take photos, and the continuous flashing white lights was quite a sight...

unfortunately i did not watch the whole match, but the patches that i saw from start to finish were just amazing... Nadal ended Federer's domination of Wimbledon for the past 5 years, and by winning back to back Grand Slams at the French Open last month and Wimbledon yesterday, the first to do so since Bjorn Borg in 1980...

oh i have not mentioned the score... it was a thrilling 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7!!!
Nadal won the first two sets with relative ease, but Roger showed everyone why he was a champion by clawing his way to win tiebreaks in the 3rd and 4th set... The 5th and final set had no tie break, so it could have gone on & on but Nadal managed to break Federer's serve and then held his...

this has been a fortnight with many surprising upsets, but at least the two singles finals were far from disappointing... in fact i bet it will be a classic that people will talk about for years... =)
