A joint ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA tour event at Indian Wells (US), the Pacific Life Tournament this week is starting to heat up as the top players make it to the quarter final rounds... I really like this tennis tournament... it is one of the bigger events outside the 4 major grand slams in terms of prize money... the dessert atmosphere with gusting winds at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden is exciting... and the champion's trophy is a really cool statue of a whale i think... I usually pay more attention to the women's event... this year, Maria Sharapova has an unbeaten run so far, so it's interesting to see how long she can keep this up. World no.4 Jelena Jankovic has been really solid in this tournament, but she faces a stern test from former world no.1 and recent mum Lindsay Davenport of the U.S. in the QF's... Top seed and world no.2 Ana Ivanovic has been pretty impressive too this season... Women's tennis is more exciting to me becoz the game is rather even and everyone has a chance of winning whereas in the men's game, it's always Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal... and most recently Novak Djokovic.. Sometimes i just wish that more players can rise up to the challenge of toppling these great players... not that i don't like them, it's just that men's tennis needs more excitement... hehehe i'm no pro but that is my opinion...=)
