The final grand slam of 2008 concluded last weekend
And if u read the newspaper u would know who won...
Red seems to be the lucky colour of the tournament...
Roger Federer picked up his 5th U.S Open title by beating Andy Murray of Britain... (shien yin must be cheering now)
My pick Nadal lost in the semis to Murray...
But Nadal is the man, he's still the best!!! (Go lefties, go! I know i'm so bias rite =P)
This year hasn't been great for Federer... He did reached the semis of the Australian, and the finals of the French & Wimbledon, but for his standards, this isn't good enough...
But somehow this makes men's tennis more interesting... I mean it is less predictable now... It seems like all the top players have a chance of winning as compared to the previous 'Federer or Nadal only' option....
On the women's side, Serena Williams achieved greatness by winning her 9th career grand slam, which is also her 3rd U.S. Open title.... By winning this title, she reclaims the spot of World No.1, many years after her dominance of tennis earlier in the decade...
She seems to be in great form right now, if she stays injury free, i think she will remain as world no.1 for quite a while... after all, with the absence of Justine Henin, the inconsistency of Ana Ivanovic, and the injury plagued Maria Sharapova, Serena doesn't really hav a threat... the closest challenge would probably come from her sister Venus...
Tennis is getting quite exciting now.... Now that the U.S hardcourt season is over, the indoor carpet season should begin soon...=)
